Mops

OPFLEX® material is a crosslinked polyolefin foam that absorbs non-polar substances (like oil) and repels water.  OPFLEX® is 50-70% lighter in weight than most sorbents and contains an additive that speeds its biodegradation.  Once it is properly wrung out or centrifuged, OPFLEX® can be re-used multiple times, making it a Low Carbon Impact (LCI) product.

SNARE MOPS (also called SWEEPS) are fabricated from OPFLEX® material to mop up oil sheen from the water’s surface or be strung together and staked into the sand to shield beaches from tar balls.  Weighing 27 ounces, our SNARE MOPS have just over 75 square feet of surface area.  When attached to containment booms, OPFLEX® SNARE MOPS can truly prevent pollutants from leaving the contained area by absorbing the released oil.
